The 6th International Ballet Forum Grand-Prix of Siberia to be held in Krasnoyarsk

In November 2021, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will host the International Ballet Forum Grand-Prix of Siberia for the sixth time. Leading figures of the ballet world of Russia and Europe, legendary Russian ballet dancers have been invited to participate in the Ballet Forum. The event will be supported by the International Federation of Ballet Competitions, the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region.

The major event of the Forum will be the International Ballet Competition Grand-Prix of Siberia. The jury of the Competition will be headed by the legendary choreographer, People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Grigorovich. Young dancers from all over the world will compete for the titles of laureates of the prestigious professional competition. You can apply for participation in the competition right now. Competitive performances in the second and third rounds will be available to all Krasnoyarsk dance fans.

Besides, the Forum comprises a business programme (discussions, meet-the-artist sessions, masterclasses, choreography workshops, roundtable meetings, educational programmes), a photo exhibition At the Origins of Russian Ballet dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Anna Pavlova and the 80th anniversary of Natalia Bessmertnova and Mikhail Lavrovsky, and, certainly, a whole constellation of performances.

A large-scale premiere of the historical ballet Catarina ou La Fille du Bandit by Cesare Pugni will open the Forum; the production choreographers are Honoured Artists of Russia Sergei Bobrov and Yuliana Malkhasyants. The premiere is dedicated to the 175th anniversary of its first production. This is a reconstruction of the choreographic drama genre; the audience of the 21st century will see it for the first time because this ballet of the legacy of the outstanding choreographer Jules Perrot was forgotten for more than a hundred years.

The highlight of the Forum will be the anniversary night of People's Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky and the ballet Nijinsky of his production (November 17). The ballet stars will take part in the event: People's Artist of Russia, prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre Maria Alexandrova and Honoured Artist of Russia, premier danseur of the Bolshoi Theatre Vladislav Lantratov. There’ll be more interesting events that will be announced later.

The choreography mysteria Leningrad Symphony (Lamento), already beloved by the Krasnoyarsk audience, will also be performed within the international forum. It’s based on the music of Syumak, Shostakovich and Mozart and staged by the Artistic Director of the Krasnoyarsk Theatre Sergei Bobrov (November 15).

The ballet forum will close with the awarding of the winners of the International Ballet Competition Grand-Prix of Siberia and a large gala concert with the participation of the stars of the Bolshoi Theatre; that is going to be a real dance holiday for the Krasnoyarsk audience.
