Ballet dancers of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre are gearing up for the gala concert Masters of Dance. This event will take place in the Big Concert Hall on April 29—International Dance Day.
To mark their professional holiday, the artists of the Krasnoyarsk ballet will present the piece Festive Overture to Dmitri Shostakovich’s music, choreographed by Olesya Aldonina. The prima ballerinas of the Theatre, Honoured Artist of Russia Yekaterina Bulgutova, Anna Kudriavtseva, the principal dancers Honoured Artist of the Krasnoyarsk Region Kirill Litvinenko, Georgy Bolsunovsky, Matvey Nikishayev, Oleksiy Skaliun, and other artists of the ballet company - both experienced and young - will take part in this show.
International Dance Day is celebrated on 29 April, the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727–1810), the French choreographer and reformer known as the father of modern ballet. The idea to mark this day as a celebration of dance was proposed by Russian ballet master and teacher Pyotr Gusev. Since 2021, Masters of Dance has been held annually on this date, uniting dance companies of various styles and genres on one stage.
International Dance Day is a powerful reminder of the universal language of movement—its ability to transcend political, cultural, and ethnic boundaries, and to bring people together in the spirit of peace, friendship, and shared artistic expression.
