The educational project Orchestra Formula will complete the 46th season with a new themed programme Cinema Music. The concert is scheduled for an unusual time: it’ll be held in the foyer of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 28.

The chamber orchestra conducted by Dmitri Kosolapov, concertmaster of the orchestra of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, will perform excerpts from the original soundtracks of popular Soviet and foreign films.

Vladimir Dashkevich’s music for the domestic version of the famous detective story - The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson directed by Igor Maslennikov - will open the concert. The film was often shown on TV, its melodies are very familiar to Soviet and Russian television viewers.

The Suite in the Old Style by Alfred Schnittke will also be performed (Ballet, Pastoral, and Pantomime were included in the soundtrack of the film The Dentist’s Adventures; Fugue and Minuet - in the film Sport, Sport, Sport by Elem Klimov) and Tango of Love by Gennady Gladkov from The Twelve Chairs directed by Mark Zakharov (soloist Alisa Kharmats, violin). Foreign cinema will be represented by a suite of Star Wars by John Towner Williams and a medley on themes from the 007 James Bond films performed by a chamber orchestra.

Alexander Zatsepin’s popular melodies will close the concert: There is Only a Moment from the film Sannikov’s Land by Albert Mkrtchyan and Leonid Popov and Talking to Happiness from the film Ivan Vasilievich: Back to the Future by Leonid Gaidai (soloists Polina Sokur (viola) and Sergei Syrokhvatov (trombone)).
