The opera and ballet gala night will close the 46th season

The closing ceremony of the 46th season of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will be held on July 5. It’ll include a large-scale opera and ballet gala concert, in which the best artists and musicians of the Theatre will take part.

Spectators will first enter an elegant theatre foyer with a photo zone that will remind you of the iconic premieres of the 46th season. The gala concert will also remind the audience of them. Its programme includes one of the most luxurious episodes of Adolphe Adam's ballet Le Corsaire - the scene Le Jardin Animé, as well as the song of Varlaam from Modest Mussorgsky's opera Boris Godunov. The highlights of the upcoming season will also be introduced: the Appian Road scene from Aram Khachaturian’s long-awaited ballet Spartacus (the premiere is scheduled for October) and the Grand Pas from Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus.

Theatre guests will see and hear pieces from the most popular productions of the repertoire: the operas Prince Igor (the Theatre’s milestone production), Madama Butterfly, Tosca, The Tsar’s Bride, Don Pasquale, Lakme; the ballets Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, ballet opera Carmen. Artistic director of the ballet company, People's Artist of Russia Anna Zharova has a surprise in store for the audience: she will take the stage along with Kirill Litvinenko in John Neumeier's choreographic miniature Pavlova and Cecchetti to the music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky (for the first time in Krasnoyarsk!), as well as in the piece Winter based on the music by Antonio Vivaldi.

The concert will start with an overture to Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera The Oprichnik and end with the music of the same composer - the finale of the opera Iolanta: in the latter, almost the entire opera company of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will appear on stage.
