The first concert of the Orchestra Formula cycle in the new season to be dedicated to the music of Italy

The first concert of the educational project Formula of the Orchestra in the theatre’s 48th season will be titled Sounds of Sunny Italy. It'll take place on the main stage of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre on September 24. The programme spans works by Italian composers from the Baroque era to the 21st century, featuring both instrumental and vocal music.

The show will open with one of the most beloved pieces for violin and orchestra — Autumn from Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, performed by Dmitri Kosolapov, concertmaster of the theatre orchestra and artistic director of the Orchestra Formula project. Two more Vivaldi works are also included: the Flute Concerto (soloist Pavel Studennikov) and the Concerto for Two Violins and Two Cellos (soloists Alisa Kharmats and Lidia Savlyuk, violins; Yekaterina Kononova and Olga Andreeva, cellos).

For the first time in the Formula of the Orchestra, audiences will hear the Viola Concerto by Italian violinist and virtuoso violist Alessandro Rolla, performed by Polina Sokur. Neapolitan songs, always warmly received by Krasnoyarsk spectators, will also be featured: four favourites will be performed by opera soloists Anna Kharitonova, Eugeny Baldanov, and Alexander Mikhaliov.

The orchestra musicians will perform additional works by Ottorino Respighi, Niccolò Paganini, Giovanni Bottesini, and Fritz Kreisler (Prelude and Allegro in the Style of Gaetano Pugnani). The concert will conclude with Tango Club, a piece from Four Pictures From New York by contemporary Italian composer Roberto Molinelli, with clarinet solo by Daria Kaysina. The piece was first performed in Krasnoyarsk during the Chamber and Orchestral Music Festival Asia – Siberia – Europe in 2024 and conducted by the composer himself.
