As part of the federal Big Tours programme, a creative exchange between Krasnoyarsk and Vladivostok will take place this summer. From May 28 to June 8, the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will tour in Krasnoyarsk, performing at the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. In turn, the Krasnoyarsk company will perform in Vladivostok from June 2 to 15.
This mutual touring initiative is made possible through the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region and the federal Big Tours programme, organized by Rosconcert under the Russian Touring and Concert Plan of the Russian Ministry of Culture.
As part of the interregional component of the Big Tours programme, the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will present a diverse repertoire at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, including the ballets Catarina ou La Fille du Bandit (which will open the tour on June 2), Spartacus, and Dante’s Catharsis, as well as the operas Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Lakmé.
Meanwhile, the visiting company from Vladivostok will present five productions in Krasnoyarsk. These include ballets The Little Humpbacked Horse, Phaedra, and The Firebird, along with the operas Pagliacci, Iolanta, and Don Pasquale.
“This is the first time the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre is touring in Krasnoyarsk. The ballets they’re bringing (The Little Humpbacked Horse, Phaedra, The Firebird) are not currently part of our repertoire, while the operas are well-known to our audiences. This gives spectators a wonderful opportunity to experience beloved works in fresh new interpretations,” said Svetlana Guziy, Chief Executive of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.
