The Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre took part in the closing ceremony of the Cultural Capital of the Krasnoyarsk Region - 2019 project

Artists of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre took part in the closing ceremony of the regional project Cultural Capital of Krasnoyarsk Region - 2019.

A gala concert was held at the Achinsk Drama Theatre; Achinsk is one of the largest towns of the Region. The soloists of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre - the Honoured Artist of Russia Vera Baranova, laureates of international competitions Zoya Rzheplyanskaya, Davit Yesayan, Sevastyan Martynyuk, Alexander Mikhaliov, Honoured Artist of Buryatia Mikhail Pirogov, choir and theatre’s orchestra came on stage that night.

The Minister of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region Arkady Zinov summed the Cultural Capital of the Krasnoyarsk Region - 2019 project up during the official part of the event.

More than 260 events of various levels - district, regional or nationwide ones - took place in Achinsk this year; they were visited by more than 150 thousand people. The Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre’s production is among these events. This is the mystical show Rusalka (The Mermaid) - an immersive performance based on the opera by Alexander Dargomyzhsky. The theatre’s company performed the show in Achinsk in October 2019.

Arkady Zinov told what the project’s results were for Achinsk:

“First of all, these are the emotions the regional citizens received because the best creative teams of the Region and the country pleased the audience here. I am also very glad that we have managed to solve some issues related to the cultural institutions of the city: we have upgraded the central library of Achinsk, opened a virtual concert hall as a part of the Museum and Exhibition Centre, and repaired the Achinsk Drama Theatre.
