The Moscow Gubernsky Theatre will tour in Krasnoyarsk

A two-day tour of the Moscow Gubernsky Theatre (Artistic Director is Sergei Bezrukov) will take place at the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. On April 27 and 28, Krasnoyarsk residents will see the play The Jolly Soldier based on the eponymous story by Viktor Astafiev. The tickets are already on sale.

Viktor Astafiev went through the Great Patriotic War as a private soldier. The main character of the play is the writer himself. From the present times, he peers into the past, into himself - a young, cheerful soldier. He relives his first youthful love, his first wound, his first loss, the memory about the German soldier he killed for the first time. The story of soldier Vitya is a story about “another war”: not the varnished, heroic one that viewers saw in Soviet films. During the war they not only fought, but also lived: fell in love, became friends, hated. It was of this everyday life, from pain, dirt, and countless losses that the Victory was made.

The artistic director of the production The Jolly Soldier is Sergei Bezrukov; the dramatization of the book by Viktor Astafiev was made by actor Boris Galkin. He also played the leading role.

Among the awards the production received are the Best Actor award of the 2nd Northern Theatrical Festival (Syktyvkar, 2016); award in the category Theatrical Art of the Russian Ministry of Defense for a significant contribution to the development of culture in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, for embodying the image of the writer Viktor Petrovich Astafiev (Moscow, 2018); Best Actor award at the 6th International Theatre Festival At the Trinity (Sergiev Posad, 2019). Besides, the production was included in the long list of the National Award Golden Mask 2017.
