The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will present an uncommon rendition of Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi on January 27. The performance is timed to a memorable date: the 80th anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad that is celebrated on January 27, 2024.

Denis Vlasenko, a maestro with unrivalled theatrical and concert experience, has been invited as the musical director and conductor of Verdi’s Requiem. He has performed along with such stars as Anna Netrebko, Yuri Bashmet, Vadim Repin, Aida Garifullina, Denis Matsuev, Alexander Rudin, Maria Gulegina, Ildar Abdrazakov, Nikolai Lugansky, Khibla Gerzmava, as well as various remarkable symphony orchestras. “A conductor is a conveyor of meaning. He needs to try to “unpack” what the composer planned to convey in his work,” Denis Vlasenko formulated his creative principle in one of his interviews.
Honoured Artist of Russia Svetlana Ratslaf-Levchuk, Honoured Artist of the Republic of Buryatia Mikhail Pirogov, and laureate of international competitions Eugeny Sevastianov will again take the stage as soloists. An invited mezzo-soprano singer, soloist of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Svetlana Tokareva will make her debut on the Krasnoyarsk stage.
