Kirill Molchanov's opera The Dawns Here Are Quiet will be staged at the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. The show will take place on May 26 as part of the tour of the Khakass Republican Philharmonic Society. The tickets are already on sale.
Kirill Molchanov is a famous Soviet composer, the author of a large number of songs, music for films, and several ballets and operas. Among them is the opera The Dawns Here Are Quiet. Its libretto was written by the composer himself and based on one of the most poignant works about the Great Patriotic War: Boris Vasiliev's short novel The Dawns Here Are Quiet. By means of music and dance, the composer tells the tragic story of five young women who were anti-aircraft gunners, and their commander - old foreman Vaskov: they fought sixteen fascist saboteurs.
Molchanov also created the music for the popular 1972 film based on this book. Kirill Molchanov as a composer-songwriter is a real master of melody, so the emotionality and melodic richness distinguish the composer's opera music as well. The opera reveals the personal stories of young women and foreman Vaskov; and there also are symbolic characters: the Girl and the War.
The production of The Dawns Here Are Quiet is a large-scale project of the Chaptykov Khakassian Republican Philharmonic Society and the Ministry of Culture of Khakassia. Its premiere took place in 2020. Cultural figures of St. Petersburg took part in the work on the production: Olga Malikova (director, author of dramatic texts, stage designer) and Tatiana Pavlovskaya (artistic director of the opera).
More than 100 artists take part in the production. In addition to soloists (People's Artist of the Republic of Khakassia Artur Marluzhokov as Fedot Vaskov), several creative teams worked on it: the symphony orchestra of the Khakassian Republican Philharmonic Society (conductor - Honoured Art Figure of the Republic of Khakassia Vyacheslav Inkizhekov), the Kadans Choir of the Khakass Philharmonic under the direction of Honoured Culture Figure of Khakassia Marina Shtark, modern and folk dance ensemble Sheik (headed by Anna Tinnikova and Dmitri Protasov).
