On November 21, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will open its second venue — the Palace of Culture and Sports of Metallurgists (30 Telmana St.). The first event on the new stage, now officially named KRAZ-Opera, will be a concert from the series The Maestro Invites, conducted by Honoured Artist of Russia Anatoly Chepurnoy.
A Maestro Invites concert at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is always a celebration — a chance to relax and soak up great energy. The stage has long been home to favourite and widely loved selections from operas, operettas, musicals, as well as songs, romances, and orchestral pieces. The same spirit will continue at the new KRAZ venue.
The programme includes the Toreador March and Habanera from Bizet’s Carmen, Mister X’s Aria and Karambolina from Imre Kálmán’s Die Zirkusprinzessin and Das Veilchen vom Montmartre, the romance songs The Nightingale by Alexander Alyabyev and Dark Eyes by Florian Hermann, Soviet-era songs such as Ferris Wheel, The Old Piano, Echo of Love, as well as Russian folk songs, Neapolitan songs, and many other beloved pieces.
Before the concert, the official opening of the KRAZ-Opera stage will take place. Afterwards, at 9 p.m., another performance will follow — a concert with the intriguing title Femme Fatales.
The project’s motto is “Art Close to Home.” The Soviet District is the largest district in Krasnoyarsk, and the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is taking a major step toward its residents.
