The world premiere of the production Between Heaven and Earth to take place in Krasnoyarsk

The musical and dramatic production Between Heaven and Earth will be performed at the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre for the first time on August 29. This world premiere precedes a significant event for the culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region - the Festival of Male Choirs.

The show is dedicated to the Saint of the Russian Orthodox Church, theologian, spiritual writer, M.D., surgeon, and scientist - Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea Luka Voino-Yasenetsky. It features bright choral groups; the leading characters will be performed by Honoured Artist of Russia Yekaterina Guseva and Hieromonk Kirill (Peregudin).

“On behalf of the Saint, the text will be spoken by Hieromonk Kirill, an inhabitant of the Danilov Monastery; Yekaterina Guseva will impersonate a collective female character. She will perform the role of Valentin Felixovich Voyno-Yasenetsky's wife and the nurse who raised his children,” said Georgy Safonov, President of the Federation of Male Choirs and Ensembles, Artistic Director and Chief Regent of the Festive Male Choir of the Moscow Danilov Monastery, Artistic Director of the Festival of Male Choirs.

The programme performed by the Siberian Male Choir (Artistic Director is Vasily Andreev), the Danilov Monastery Choir, and the Children's Opera Studio of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre (Artistic Director is Natalia Tsyupa) will introduce works by outstanding Russian composers including the ones from Krasnoyarsk: Ave Maria (music by Yekaterina Popova), Sacred Love (music by Georgy Sviridov), Praise to St. Luke (music by Vladimir Ponomariov), and others. The song Not for Me (music by Nikolai Devitte, lyrics by A. Molchanov) will also be performed; it has already become a real folk song. Georgy Safonov will take the conductor’ stand.
