Theatrical Spring 2023: Lakme has 10 nominations

On March 18, the regional theatre festival Theatrical Spring is starting. The programme of this theatrical forum includes the production of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre - opera Lakme by Léo Delibes. This production was nominated in 10 categories.

Rarely performed in Russia, this opera was a highlight of the past theatrical season not only in Krasnoyarsk, but also in Moscow: Lakme was successfully presented at the Bolshoi Theatre during a large-scale tour in the Russian capital in the summer of 2022. The show was highly appreciated by the experts of the Theatrical Spring and was nominated in the following categories:

  • Best Premiere of the Season in a Music Theatre;
  • Best Conductor of a Music Theatre: Dmitri Khodosh, chief choirmaster and conductor of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre;
  • Best Production Director of a Music Theatre: Sergei Novikov
  • Best Production Design in a Music Theatre: Maria Vysotskaya
  • Best Lighting Design: Ruslan Mayorov;
  • Best Female Role in an Opera Production: Alexandra Cherpakova (Lakme);
  • Best Male Role in an Opera Production: Edward Arutyunyan (Hadji), Sevastian Martyniuk (Frédéric);
  • Best Supporting Female Role in a Music Theatre: Yekaterina Kochetova (Rose), Larisa Plotnikova (Bentson).

Lakme will be performed on March 26. Also within the festival Theatrical Spring 2023, the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will host the show On Christmas Night ... of the Minusinsk Drama Theatre (March 20). On April 1 and 2, Krasnoyarsk residents will have the opportunity to see and hear Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera Don Giovanni: the production was included in the programme of the Theatrical Spring as a guest of the festival - out of competition.

The awards distribution and festival closing ceremony will take place on April 3.
