Three Italian artists to perform in Puccini Passions

Renowned Italian musicians—soprano Alessandra di Giorgio, tenor Emanuele D’Aguanno, and conductor Filippo Dessi—are set to perform in Puccini Passions, a concert featuring highlights from operas by Italian composers. The event will take place in Krasnoyarsk.

Alessandra di Giorgio was born in Italy, She graduated from the Mannheim Conservatory and has performed extensively in German theatres.  Alessandra sang the part of Lady Macbeth at the Aachen Theatre and the Cottbus State Theatre. Her repertoire includes Il Trittico by Giacomo Puccini, Aida by Giuseppe Verdi, Cavalleria Rusticana by Ruggero Leoncavallo. In 2019, she made her debut at the Bayreuth Festival in Siegfried Wagner’s opera An Allem ist Hütchen Schuld! She has also performed as a soprano soloist in Verdi’s Requiem and as the Queen of Sheba in Karl Goldmark’s eponymous opera. Her repertoire spans works by Wagner, Strauss, Handel, and Monteverdi. Alessandra frequently performs on international stages including the NOVAT in the Russian city of Novosibirsk. She has won numerous awards including a gold medal at the Hariclea Darclée Opera Competition.

Emanuele D’Aguanno, a native of Rome, studied at the Arrigo Pedrollo Conservatory in Vicenza. He has graced the stages of Italy’s leading opera houses including La Scala in Milan and La Fenice in Venice, as well as prestigious venues such as Covent Garden in London and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. He has also performed at renowned festivals in Salzburg and Spoleto With a repertoire of around 50 roles, he specializes in operas by Mozart, Verdi, Donizetti, Giordano, and Puccini. Emanuele D’Aguanno has collaborated with acclaimed conductors and directors including Dmitri Yurovsky, Ivor Bolton, Diego Fasolis, Federico Maria Sardelli, Bertrand de Billy, Marco Armiliato, Robert Wilson, and others. His discography includes recordings of operas by Vivaldi and Mozart, along with a solo album of bel canto arias.

Filippo Dessi is the creator, musical director, and conductor of Puccini Passions. Born in Mantua, Italy, he studied piano and chamber music in Germany before completing his conducting training in Milan. Since 2019, he has been based in Russia, where he has worked as an assistant to Maestro Fabio Mastrangelo in St. Petersburg, assistant chief conductor at the Tchaikovsky Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, and conductor of the Samara Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. He has collaborated with celebrated soloists such as Denis Matsuev, Vadim Repin, Boris Andrianov, Maria Bayankina, Alexander Ramm, and has appeared at numerous Russian and international festivals.

For Alessandra di Giorgio and Emanuele D’Aguanno, this will be their first visit to Krasnoyarsk. Filippo Dessi, however, is already well acquainted with the city’s audiences, having been involved in the November 2024 production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia as the conductor’s assistant, harpsichordist, Italian language coach, and recitative instructor. He is currently working on a newly restored production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Il Trovatore: it’s set to premiere on March 1 and 2.
