Valentin Kolesnikov and Sevastian Martyniuk have reached the semifinals of a prestigious competition

Soloists of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre have advanced to the semifinals of the international European competition for performers of Italian opera — Competizione dell’Opera.

The preliminary round took place at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.
Valentin Kolesnikov performed Rudolf’s aria from Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème, and Sevastian Martyniuk sang Rodrigo’s aria from Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlo. The semifinals and finals will be held in Moscow at the Zaryadye Concert Hall on December 19 and 21.

Competizione dell’Opera is one of the most prestigious international vocal competitions dedicated to Italian opera. For 29 years it has been held annually on major opera and concert stages across Europe and Asia — in theatres in Germany, Austria, Uzbekistan, and Belarus. The competition has also been hosted by the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia; in 2025, it returns to Russia once again, this time at Zaryadye.

Krasnoyarsk audiences will have the chance to hear the soloists very soon.
Sevastian Martyniuk will perform at the opening concert of the KRAZ-Opera - Maestro Invites - on November 21. On November 26, he'll take the stage as Shestopalov in Alexander Tchaikovsky’s opera To Love in Wartime.
Valentin Kolesnikov will sing the role of Chevalier des Grieux in Jules Massenet’s Manon on November 23. On November 27, he'll make his debut as Mikhail in To Love in Wartime.
