The role of Basmanov in Oprichnik will be sung by a countertenor
In his opera The Oprichnik, Pyotr Tchaikovsky wrote the part of Fyodor Basmanov for a low female voice — mezzo-soprano or contralto. At the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre on March 22, this role will be performed by the high male voice singer - countertenor Vadim Volkov.

The Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre celebrates the taking of the name of Dmitri Hvorostovsky
On February 1, artists and staff of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will visit the exhibition The Voice that Conquered the World at the Grigory Yudin Estate Museum. The visit is dedicated to a historically significant date: since February 1, 2018, the Theatre proudly bears the name of Dmitri Hvorostovsky. The future star of the world opera art, People's Artist of Russia Dmitri Hvorostovsky started his artistic journey on the Krasnoyarsk stage.
